A crowd of about 100 gathered at James Rumsey Monument & Park as Miss West Virginia 2023, Karrington Childress, cut the ribbon for the new Almost Heaven Swing, designed to enhance local tourism and community spirit. The initiative, inspired by Childress two years prior, has now expanded to 49 swings throughout the state. The installation involved local Rotary Club members, highlighting the area's commitment to making Shepherdstown a welcoming place for visitors and celebrating its historical significance, as the park honors early steamboat inventor James Rumsey.
