On August 6, local authorities, including Lt. R. Sell from the Sheriff's Office and Animal Control Officer Schneider, executed a search warrant at a Kearneysville residence due to complaints of animal cruelty involving several emaciated horses. Joined by a veterinarian, they conducted a welfare check and found some horses in poor condition, with the owner, Toschia Spriggs, claiming medical issues were to blame. A notice was issued, requiring her to provide essential care for the animals. This incident highlights ongoing concerns about animal welfare in the area, as reported by The Journal.
