After a four-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the Appalachian Heritage Festival is set to return to Shepherdstown from September 12-14, marking its 29th year. Rachael Meads, Assistant Director of Student Engagement at Shepherd University, credited the revival to community support from organizations like Experience Shepherdstown and local figures such as Council member Shannon Thomas. Financial backing has been bolstered through private donations and a partnership with the Jefferson County Convention and Visitors Bureau to boost advertising efforts. The festival promises a celebration of Appalachian culture through workshops, lectures, and performances by local artists.
