After a four-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the Appalachian Heritage Festival is set to return to Shepherdstown from September 12-14, marking its 29th year. Rachael Meads, the festival's organizer, expressed gratitude for the support from the Experience Shepherdstown community, which was pivotal in revitalizing the festival. Despite financial challenges, local figures such as Shannon Thomas and Mary Ellen Diaz rallied community support, ensuring the festival will showcase Appalacian culture through workshops, concerts, and lectures. The event will also benefit from collaboration with the Jefferson County Convention and Visitors Bureau to enhance visibility and attract attendees.
