In 2025, the Bee Line Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution plans to honor Eugenia Scholay Washington, a founding member and descendant of notable figures, including George Washington. During a recent chapter meeting, state historian Darla Treat Courtney presented her life and contributions. Washington dedicated her efforts to fostering unity post-Civil War and served as the first registrar of the NSDAR. The chapter will unveil a roadside marker near her childhood home in Charles Town, inviting public participation in the ceremony, supported by The Journal.
