On August 15, 75 residents from Charles Town and its surrounding areas gathered for the inaugural Black Policy Day at Corner Connections. Organized by Teresa Holmes as a prelude to the 31st Annual Jefferson County African American Culture & Heritage Festival, the event exceeded attendance expectations, selling out tickets and drawing nearly double the planned number of attendees. Holmes expressed excitement over the community's response and anticipation for future events, solidifying Black Policy Day as a staple for the festival weekend, as reported by the West Virginia Press Association.
