After a 25-year campaign led by Friends of Blackwater, the Blackwater Canyon, located near the beautiful landscapes of Thomas and Davis, is now fully protected. An agreement facilitated by Senator Joe Manchin allowed for the transfer of 2,700 acres to the Monongahela National Forest, enhancing public access and recreational opportunities. Friends of Blackwater's Director Judy Rodd described this achievement as a significant victory for environmental preservation and tourism in the region, celebrating the natural beauty that so many cherish.
