A public meeting is scheduled for Tuesday in Charles Town to discuss the potential extension of the WV Route 9 Bicycle Path, with hopes of connecting it to local paths in Martinsburg. Hosted by the Hagerstown/Eastern Panhandle Metropolitan Planning Organization, the workshop will gather public input on route options and concerns. Matt Mullenax, HEPMPO's director, emphasized the importance of community feedback in shaping the bike path's design, which aims to cater to pedestrians and cyclists alike. He highlighted challenges such as navigating railroad crossings and integrating the path with existing infrastructure. Feedback from the upcoming meeting and a public survey opening soon will guide the project, addressing recreational and transportation needs within the region.
