Jefferson County Building Commission discusses concerns about bond ordinance

In a recent public hearing hosted by the Jefferson County Building Commission in Charles Town, community members expressed mixed feelings about a proposed $16 million bond ordinance aimed at funding a new Government and Judicial complex. Resident Linda Lewis raised concerns about the adequacy of existing facilities and the need for emergency services in areas like Shannondale, suggesting that resources may be better allocated elsewhere. The commission emphasized the importance of modernization and public access, with plans to acquire and renovate two buildings. Ultimately, they voted to approve the bond ordinance, despite calls for additional public information and consideration from residents.
