The Spirit of Jefferson reports that the Charles Town city council has finalized the sale of a 2.8-acre vacant property formerly owned by the American Public University System for approximately $500,000. This agreement follows a lengthy 30-month negotiation process, which included the initiation of eminent domain proceedings. The land, appraised at about $1 million and significantly cleaned of hazardous materials by APUS, is now set to be transformed, potentially into a city park, enhancing the downtown area as part of efforts to improve community resources.
