Jefferson County Commission changes policies 901 and 900

The Journal reports that during a recent meeting, the commission approved changes to Policy 901 and Policy 900, aimed at modernizing public notice requirements for county board positions in Charles Town. County Administrator Edwina Benites described the need for flexibility in advertising, moving from mandated cable broadcasts to social media posts. The changes, which were passed unanimously, have raised concerns among residents about transparency and adequate notice for applicants. The commission also streamlined the interview process for board positions, proposing that only one nomination be needed to proceed with interviews, aimed at increasing efficiency in filling committee roles.
