In a recent move to enhance downtown Charles Town, the city acquired 2.9 acres of vacant land from American Public University Systems for $500,000. This land, situated in the emerging Depot District, is set to be transformed into a community park aimed at fostering public gatherings, as stated by City Manager John Nissell. The property, previously home to industrial facilities, underwent significant environmental remediation funded by APUS. Following council approval, plans for the park will include community input and long-term programming, contributing to the city’s vibrant public spaces.
