Eighth-grade students at Charles Town Middle School engaged in the Get a Life program, a financial literacy simulation designed to teach budgeting and smart spending. Organized by Fairmont State University and the West Virginia State Treasurer’s Office, the initiative has reached over 650 students across local schools, including upcoming visits to Harpers Ferry and Shepherdstown. Participants learned to navigate fictional financial scenarios, gaining insights into money management and future career considerations. Volunteers from the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce and local businesses supported the event, emphasizing its importance for student education in finances.
