Evitts Run Park in Charles Town hosted the annual Juneteenth celebration organized by the local NAACP, marking the event's 25th anniversary amidst the absence of longtime leader George Rutherford. More than 100 community members gathered to enjoy food, entertainment, and educational booths, emphasizing the significance of Juneteenth as a pivotal moment in history. Organizer Donnie Twyman highlighted the need to preserve the story of freedom and its relevance for future generations, reminding attendees of the holiday's importance in American culture. This celebration reflects the community's commitment to honoring their history and heritage.
