In Charles Town, discussions about the future of the historic courthouse and surrounding county buildings are on hold as local leaders from the Jefferson County Commission and City Council have yet to meet officially. While no timeline has been established, city officials appear eager to accelerate planning compared to county authorities. Jefferson County administrator Edwina Benites emphasized the need to plan real estate in the downtown area but asserted that now is not the right time to act, reflecting the ongoing transition of judicial and governmental offices to new locations.
