On January 9, a car chase in Charles Town initiated from a red light violation on US Route 340, leading to the arrests of two men from Maryland. After fleeing the scene, the driver struck a Jefferson County Sheriff's Office unit and a utility pole before both suspects attempted to escape on foot. The driver, Rodney Andre Petitt, faces multiple charges including felony reckless fleeing, while passenger Derrell Samuel Coakley faces a misdemeanor charge. Both were arraigned and released on bond, with their cases highlighting ongoing traffic issues in the area.
