Charles Town walkers usher in ‘Hip Sips’ district

In Charles Town, a local walking group known as 'Walks About Nothing' has gathered momentum, coinciding with the launch of the new 'Hip Sips District,' a Public Outdoor Designated Area (PODA) allowing the public to enjoy alcoholic beverages on the go. Convened by Charles Town Now, the walkers, including former Councilmember Julie Philabaum and business owner Josh Vance, embraced the initiative by starting their route from city hall to Abolitionist Ale Works for drinks, enhancing community engagement at local festivals and events. The PODA is open seven days a week, fostering a vibrant social scene downtown.
