Charles Town Utilities Board Votes To Rescind Bottling Plant Agreement

The Charles Town Utilities Board has unanimously voted to rescind an agreement for a water bottling plant by Sidewinder Enterprises near Middleway. The decision comes after local residents raised concerns about potential impacts on traffic, water resources, and environmental effects during a recent meeting. Board Chairman John Nissel acknowledged the project should not have progressed without thorough review, emphasizing the board's commitment to growing public water services over private bottling ventures. A special meeting is scheduled for February 5 to further discuss the matter, allowing for public comments.
