The West Virginia Professional Charter School Board is optimistic about effectively utilizing state funds for charter schools, following changes to the law allowing these institutions direct access to the School Building Authority’s resources. Executive Director James Paul noted that all existing brick-and-mortar charter schools have submitted applications for funding opportunities aimed at improving educational facilities. Board member Dewayne Duncan emphasized the importance of strategically allocating funds to maximize impact on student outcomes, especially as new schools, like M.E.C.C.A. Business Learning Institute in Berkeley County, prepare to open in the fall of 2025.
