On October 26, the General Adam Stephen Chapter Sons of the American Revolution Color Guard participated in a grave marking ceremony for Patriot John Grey at the Old Baptist Cemetery in Gerrardstown, WV. John Grey, who served in the Virginia Rifle Company under Colonel Hugh Stephenson, played a vital role in the early history of the United States Army, which officially began on June 14, 1775, with the establishment of multiple rifle companies to support the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. The ceremony honored Grey's significant contributions and commemorated the historic march of his Rifle Company, which traveled to Boston in 25 days.
