In a recent meeting at Washington High School, the Jefferson County Planning Commission voted unanimously to reject the Mountain Pure Water bottling facility proposed by Sidewinder Enterprises. The plan, aimed for the old 3M site and accompanied by waterline construction through Middleway, drew significant public opposition, particularly regarding its potential impact on the historic district and local farming concerns. Community members expressed fears about increased truck traffic and possible damage to centuries-old structures. Despite some support from local trades, the overwhelming call for preservation led to the decision against the project, highlighting the community's commitment to maintaining its historical integrity.
