At a recent regular meeting in Charles Town, tensions escalated as residents expressed concerns over reported ICE activity, notably in local restaurants. During a town hall addressing ambulance fees, a citizen queried the commission about its interactions with the Sheriff’s department. Commissioner Steve Stolipher clarified that the commission was not involved in the ICE matters. The meeting was briefly disrupted when two individuals made Nazi salutes, resulting in their immediate removal, allowing the commission to proceed with its agenda. The incident highlights ongoing community concerns regarding law enforcement practices in the area.
