NextEra Energy Transmission MidAtlantic has announced plans to seek a Public Service Commission permit for its MidAtlantic Resiliency Link Project (MARL), aiming to construct a 105-mile transmission line from Greene County, Pa., to Frederick County, Va. This could impact areas such as Charles Town and Ranson, where local residents have voiced concerns about the project primarily benefiting data centers in Virginia rather than the community. Despite the project's potential to enhance regional electricity reliability—selected due to increased demand—residents are apprehensive about the lack of local advantages. Confusion arose when FirstEnergy's Potomac Edison mistakenly linked a related project to MARL, which prompted a clarification from them, as reported by The Dominion Post.
