CTUB Discusses Sidewinder Agreement Amid Public Concerns

CTUB continues discussion concerning the agreement with Sidewinder Enterprises

During a recent meeting, the Charles Town Utility Board (CTUB) discussed its agreement with Sidewinder Enterprises for water service, prompting public discontent over the project's transparency. CTUB Chairman John Nissel expressed regret over his prior approval of the agreement and proposed it be considered null and void. Board member John Maxey clarified that the CTUB does not have the authority to approve the related Mountain Pure water bottling facility, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in the decision-making process. The board unanimously voted to table further discussions until a special meeting scheduled for February 5, aiming to enhance public engagement and transparency, particularly in regard to environmental and public health considerations.
