The Eastern West Virginia Community Foundation (EWVCF) is celebrating its 30th anniversary, marking three decades of philanthropic impact across local communities including Charles Town and Harpers Ferry. Founded in 1995 with a generous scholarship from George Hancock in memory of his late wife, the Foundation has grown to manage nearly 400 funds, distributing over $16 million in grants and scholarships to support students and local initiatives. With affiliate foundations in Hampshire and Hardy counties bolstering its reach, EWVCF continues to address community needs through collaboration and strategic grant-making. As they honor their past, leaders emphasize ongoing contributions to local education and social services, inviting more community members to join in creating meaningful legacies. The Shepherdstown Chronicle reports on this significant milestone.
