Pia Peltola and Andy Singletary have transformed the historic 1912 Fireman’s Hall in Shepherdstown into a unique residence, showcasing adaptive reuse amid local history. Originally serving various community functions, including as a firehouse and multi-purpose hall, the couple undertook extensive renovations after acquiring the building in 1994. Their architectural vision merges historic preservation with modern design, retaining elements like the tin ceiling and wooden trusses while incorporating Scandinavian influences. This project exemplifies the local heritage and adaptive reuse efforts supported by organizations like Historic Shepherdstown, dedicated to maintaining the area's architectural character.
