On September 25, local residents can participate in the inaugural 'Save A Life Day' by obtaining free Narcan at five locations across towns including Charles Town and Shepherdstown. This initiative, part of a larger effort to combat overdose deaths, is brought to the community through the collaborative work of SOAR WV and the Jefferson County Health Department, which has seen a significant reduction in overdose fatalities. Volunteers will demonstrate how to use Narcan, emphasizing its importance as a life-saving tool that everyone should know how to administer. The event is a continuation of ongoing efforts aimed at education and prevention following a notable decline in overdose deaths in the region since the widespread distribution of Narcan kits began during the pandemic.
