Friends of Music, a non-profit organization based in Shepherdstown, has awarded Hedgesville Middle School a $350 grant to purchase Snark tuners for music classes, as reported by The Journal. Music teacher Savannah Hochberg emphasized the importance of these tuners for students to learn to tune their instruments independently. This grant is part of a wider initiative to enhance music education across Berkeley and Jefferson schools, funding resources not typically covered by school budgets. Friends of Music, founded in 1999, also supports the Two Rivers Chamber Orchestra and relies on donations, such as from Ecolab, to facilitate its programs.
