Suspect in fatal Frederick County hit-and-run extradited to Virginia

A man from Front Royal, accused of fatally hitting 29-year-old Payton Dixon III in a June 23 hit-and-run, has been extradited to Virginia. Jacques Daniel Blemur, 30, appeared in court after fleeing from the scene in a violent incident at the intersection near Winchester, which is not far from Charles Town. Witnesses reported that after Dixon was assaulted by another man, Blemur intentionally drove into him, resulting in his death. Authorities are also pursuing charges against the assailant, Michael Jackson, a convicted felon with a lengthy criminal record, as the community grapples with the aftermath of this tragedy.
