In a recent article published by The Spirit of Jefferson, artist Gary Bergel showcases his landscape photography in the exhibit 'Chasing Beauty/Close to Home' at the South Jefferson Public Library. The exhibit features 15 digital photographs taken within a 50-mile radius of his Leetown home, celebrating the unique vistas around the Shenandoah River. At 82, Bergel, a former educator at Blue Ridge Community and Technical College, reflects on his lifelong passion for photography and the importance of capturing the beauty of natural landscapes in the area. The exhibit, part of the library's Art in the Library series, demonstrates Bergel's commitment to the arts and engages the local community by highlighting its scenic charm.
