Good Shepherd Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers, founded in 1990 by local churches in Shepherdstown, continues to provide essential services such as transportation, medical equipment lending, and companionship to residents in need. With a current staff of two and a growing demand for services, especially in medical transportation due to increased health challenges, the nonprofit emphasizes the importance of community support and volunteerism. Executive Director Paula Marrone-Reese encourages local residents to help combat social isolation among seniors by volunteering their time or reaching out to neighbors, fostering a stronger sense of community in places like Charles Town and Ranson.
