Harpers Ferry National Historical Park is launching the B.A.R.K. Ranger program, encouraging pet owners in the area to teach their dogs responsible park behavior. This initiative, which follows the success of a similar program started in 2016 at Olympic National Park, aims to enhance the experience for visitors while protecting the park's resources. Dogs can participate by attending a short program at visitor centers, committing to guidelines like keeping pets leashed and cleaning up waste. With over 20 miles of dog-friendly trails, including scenic routes through historic areas, this program promotes both fitness and conservation for the local community.
