In a significant development for the region, Rep. Riley Moore has introduced a bill aimed at facilitating a land transfer that would allow U.S. Customs and Border Protection to expand its Advanced Training Center in Harpers Ferry. This transfer involves 25 acres of land from the National Park Service, which is integral to the area’s landscape, in exchange for 72 acres of Customs' land. This move is expected to enhance training capabilities for border patrol agents while highlighting the importance of national security in the picturesque town known for its rich history and proximity to various landmarks.
