Heart of the Community Honors Celebrate Local Leaders in Charles Town

On August 15, during the Black Policy Day - Eastern Panhandle Experience in Charles Town, nine dedicated individuals received the inaugural Heart of the Community honors for their influential contributions to the local Black community. Among the honorees were former Shepherdstown Town Council member Jenny Haynes, Jefferson County Magistrate Arthena Roper, and Miss West Virginia 2017 Tamia Hardy, all recognized for their commitment to fostering inclusivity and positive change in the region. This event emphasized the importance of collaborative action in enhancing community well-being and showcasing the efforts of local leaders making lasting impacts.
