The Jefferson County Professional Fire Fighters IAFF Local 5351 has raised concerns regarding a hiring freeze at the Jefferson County Emergency Services Agency, which could lead to decreased daily staffing and longer response times for emergencies affecting local communities like Charles Town and Ranson. The union reported that the county administration has prevented the filling of crucial positions, including an EMT and an advanced life support provider, thus jeopardizing service levels.
