West Virginia State Police are investigating a hit and run that resulted in the death of 41-year-old Johnathan Ballou, a resident of Ranson, on Shepherdstown Road. Trooper J.S. Racer responded to the scene shortly after the incident occurred at approximately 2 a.m. Ballou had parked at the nearby Dollar General store and was struck by a dark-colored SUV as he crossed the roadway. The driver failed to stop, and authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Martinsburg Detachment.
