During a recent meeting in Charles Town, the Jefferson County Development Authority (JCDA) voted to indefinitely table proposed changes to its bylaws, which aimed to reduce board members from 15 to 13 and eliminate the Agriculture Development Committee. Community members, including Christine Wimer from the Jefferson County Foundation, voiced strong opposition to the proposed changes, arguing for the JCDA's independence from the county commission. Board discussions included suggestions for potentially increasing board membership to enhance community input, as representatives debated the implications of the commission's review of the bylaws. The JCDA ultimately decided to reassess the bylaws before returning to the county commission with its recommendations.
