During its first meeting of the year on January 2, the Jefferson County Commission adopted a more cooperative approach, electing Pasha Majdi as Commission President and Mike Mood as Vice President. The commissioners, now with a permanent CFO in David Bound, discussed the preliminary budget for FY26, emphasizing merit and cost-of-living increases for county employees. The following workshop highlighted priorities such as a balanced budget, relocating county employees to a new headquarters on North Lawrence Street, assessing fire service needs, and redesigning the county website. This revitalized atmosphere at the meeting is a promising sign for future collaboration among local officials.
