The West Virginia Racing Commission has suspended the owner and trainer license of Toschia Spriggs after an animal cruelty investigation revealed that eight horses at her Kearneysville property were malnourished and neglectfully cared for. A search warrant was executed on August 6, 2025, following a veterinarian's report on the horses' poor condition. Despite initial notices to rectify the care deficiencies, subsequent inspections showed no improvement, raising serious animal welfare concerns within the local equestrian community.
