On a Red Flag warning day, responders tackled a two-acre fire near Kearneysville after a tractor and hay baler caught fire, damaging the field along Rt. 51. Over a dozen fire crews, including a brush fire task force, arrived shortly after noon to contain the blaze, which was extinguished in about an hour. The incident highlights the fire danger in the Eastern Panhandle due to low humidity and gusty winds, as mentioned by the National Weather Service. Pictures of the operation were shared by the Baker Heights Volunteer Fire Department.
