Leadership Jefferson volunteers prepare over 700 first aid kits for local schools

On Saturday, volunteers from this year's Leadership Jefferson class gathered in Charles Town to assemble over 700 emergency response kits for local schools. Inspired by teacher of the year Katie Madrid, the initiative aimed to replace outdated supplies with essential items like tourniquets and scissors, enhancing preparedness for emergency situations. With $15,000 raised through local businesses and community members, the project not only updated first-aid supplies but also included five mannequins for training. The efforts, led by organizer Jennifer Verdugo and supported by Jefferson County's Charge Nurse Amy Papavero, reflect a commitment to community safety and teacher support, while Leadership Jefferson continues to foster civic engagement through meaningful projects.
