Lisa Loomer, an accomplished playwright whose work has graced Broadway, returns to the Contemporary American Theater Festival (CATF) in Shepherdstown, marking her first appearance since 1991. This summer, Loomer will debut her autobiographical play, 'Side Effects May Include . . .,' which delves into her son’s experience with a medication that led to chronic Akathisia. Sharing a powerful narrative that advocates for informed consent, Loomer aims to spark important discussions about mental health and medication safety among local audiences and beyond. The production will take place at Shepherd University, showcasing works that resonate deeply within the community.
