This fall, six schools including those from Harpers Ferry and Charles Town, along with 13 local nonprofits, received over $99,900 in grants from the Eastern West Virginia Community Foundation. These funds, allocated for various art, music, and nature projects, stem from the Detlev and Mary Ellen Preissler Fund for the Arts, Music, Design, and Nature, which honors Detlev Preissler’s legacy as an architectural designer. Mary Ellen Preissler, who established the fund in 2022, remains actively involved in the grant selection process, showcasing a commitment to enriching the community.
