Martinsburg man arrested for alleged sexual abuse of child in Ranson

A 31-year-old Martinsburg resident, Sloan Louckas Whetzel, was arrested on felony sexual abuse charges after a 14-year-old girl accused him of multiple incidents of sexual misconduct between 2019 and 2022 while visiting family in Ranson. The allegations surfaced during a West Virginia Department of Human Services investigation. Whetzel entered a not guilty plea in Jefferson County Magistrate Court and was released on a $30,000 bail, though no record of his jail release was available as of the following day.
