On a chilly Thursday morning, dozens of local residents gathered to protest against policies of the Trump administration outside the offices of Rep. Riley Moore in Martinsburg and Sen. Shelley Moore Capito in Foxcroft. Following an Associated Press report concerning potential job cuts at the Department of Veterans Affairs, the demonstrators, including veterans and community members from towns like Berkeley Springs, participated in a series of protests held in quick succession throughout the Eastern Panhandle. Veteran Ron Wenger expressed concerns regarding the administration's treatment of veterans, while protest organizer Stewart Acuff emphasized the importance of raising awareness and mobilizing voters for future elections like those in 2026. This protest marked the fourth event in two weeks, reflecting growing community response and engagement across various gatherings in the area.
