Martinsburg Student Accepted into National Language Program

Local homeschooler accepted into the National Security Language Initiative for Youth

Amelia Ramer, a local homeschooler from Martinsburg, has been accepted into the National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) program, allowing her to study the Korean language and culture in South Korea for seven weeks. Her journey began with a deep interest in East Asian cultures, which sparked her to learn Japanese and connect with international students during dual enrollment at Shepherd University. Inspired to promote cultural exchange, Ramer aims to encourage her peers from the area to engage in such opportunities. She will leave for South Korea on June 25, living with a host family and studying at Hanyang University, fostering her dream of becoming a diplomat.
