Despite a unanimous rejection from the Jefferson County Planning Commission regarding the Mountain Pure Water Bottling Facility proposal in Middleway, developments are ongoing. Project partner Sean Masterson maintains the facility will benefit the local economy through job creation and tax revenue. The commission opposed the plan mainly due to zoning violations and concerns over environmental impact and preservation of the historic village, which has been a point of contention among local residents and organizations like Protect Middleway.
