Middleway, a historic town founded in the 1700s, has been added to the Endangered Properties List by The Preservation Alliance of West Virginia due to concerns over a proposed water bottling facility by Sidewinder Enterprises. The project could jeopardize historic structures within the area, some dating back to the town's origins as Smithfield. Local preservationists, including Jessie Norris and Greg Coble, are advocating for awareness and action against the potential threats posed by the construction. An upcoming advocacy gathering is set for January 31st at the Grace Episcopal Church to mobilize community support against the development, which proponents argue could bring economic benefits to the region.
