A mobile lung cancer screening unit named LUCAS will visit Ranson and Martinsburg in early April to provide accessible low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) scans. Operating at Breast & Body Health Inc. on April 1 and the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office on April 2, the screenings are billed to those with insurance, while uninsured individuals who meet certain criteria may access grant-funded services. Scheduled appointments should be made at least 14 days in advance to facilitate insurance authorizations. LUCAS aims to enhance cancer screening access in underserved areas, supporting early detection in a state where lung cancer poses a significant health risk. This initiative is part of the WVU Cancer Institute Mobile Cancer Screening Program, as reported by Herald-Mail Media.
