Motorcyclist Killed After Crossing Median and Colliding with Car on US 340 Wednesday

On Wednesday evening, a tragic motorcycle accident near Bolivar claimed the life of 24-year-old John Drake from Burkittsville, Maryland. According to Lt. R. S. Sell of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Drake's motorcycle crossed the median on US Route 340 and collided with a Mazda 3 while traveling eastbound. Emergency services arrived, but his injuries were fatal, and he was pronounced dead at the scene around 7 p.m. The crash caused traffic delays as westbound lanes were diverted and eastbound traffic was limited during the investigation, which concluded around 10 p.m. This incident highlights ongoing traffic safety concerns in the area.
